The Book of Mark

Potluck Lunch and Fellowship - 12:00 Noon

Everyone Is Welcome!

John Mark (known to us as ‘Mark’) was most likely raised in Jewish culture. But the call of Christ was to go into the world and spread the gospel. For Mark, this meant going into the Roman culture and communicating with them on their level. How is this to be done? In the fast-paced Greco-Roman society, Mark will have to get to the point quickly. In the shortest of the Gospel accounts, Mark gleans the Gospel to the absolute essentials. Come join us on Sunday mornings as we run with Mark in the Gospel account preserved for us in the Scriptures.

Bible Study Begins - Begins 7:15 PM

Everyone Is Welcome!

“You make me dance, you make me cry, you make me mad
You make me shout, you make me smile, you make me mad
You make me sing, you make me think, you make me sad
You make me fall, you make me love, you make me mad”

Third Day, “You Make Me Mad”, Conspiracy No.5, 1997

These lyrics would not strike the average person as being “psalm-like,” But they are.

In fact, they are very similar to what is found within the Book of Psalms.  There are Psalms of sorrow and sadness, joy and happiness, bitterness and anger, hopelessness and despair, questions and cynicism, and hopefulness and promise-seeking.  Few people today are willing to tell God exactly how they feel.  But the Psalmists do – and they do so through songs and prayers.  Perhaps this is why they connect to so many today when we struggle to articulate our thoughts and feelings.

Come join us on Wednesday evenings at 7:15 PM as we begin a new study of the Book of Psalms and see how open our God is to truly hearing everything we want to say – even when we are afraid to say it.
